Christ is Enough

There are times where we feel that no one around us understands us or what is going on with our lives. Sharing burdens with fellow believers is great but is contingent upon the listening party understanding the heart of the one sharing.

But there are times when the heart of another can not be understood. For hearts hold thoughts of the deepest dimensions and only the person holding them can truly know. Words are not enough sometimes or inadequate to express how people feel.

Sometimes metaphors can illustrate how we are feeling but language is the construction to express verbally the thoughts that seeminglyless flow through our minds. And unfortunately sometimes even though there is great descriptive language, sometimes it truly is not enough.

Furthermore, even if it's the barrier of language that doesn't get our point across, there are just times when people who mean well just don't know enough to get the point.

Martin Luther King Jr. once stated,"Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill-will."

It is the inability to understand the heart of another in great times of need that is troubling.

Maybe one may feel like the black sheep of the family. Maybe someone may feel as if they don't know what the future holds and the cloud of emotions are hard to explain. Maybe one may have the thoughts in mind, but longs to talk about the intrinsic values and worth that make humans seem to have that capacity for beyond.

But...

Christ knows what it feels like to be misunderstood.

Christ knows what it feels like to have the whole world against you.

Christ knows what it feels like to be broken. Literally and figuratively.

Christ knows what it feels like to experience loneliness that brings us to our knees.

Christ knows what it feels like just having the whole world on your shoulders with no one to turn to.

No one to turn to but the Father.

And that is why Christ is enough.

Truth be told, if Christ did not understand, then would He truly be worthy of our praises? A God whom we claim to be sovereign over the entire universe not understanding how a single human being may feel?

But Christ came to show us that the Christian lifestyle is not a straitjacket. Not even when times that the fellowship with our brothers and sisters is not enough.

In Christ there is hope that He knows and understands all. There is hope that everything happens for a reason and at the end when we wonder why, we may eventually get the answers we seek.

There is a simple argument but a rather convincing one (in my opinion of course) about this hope that we hold to be true.
  1. If there is no God then there is no hope.
  2. There is hope.
  3. Therefore there is God.
You can replace hope with morality, but people will argue against that with some success. However, how do you argue against hope?

Romans 5:5 does a great job in advocating this point by stating,"And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

When Christ died, there became a new hope. This hope is the source of light in our souls to keep us through whatever we may face or be facing. Therefore it can only be concluded that Christ is enough.
